Hologram Folder

So I'm sloooowly working at trying to get my guest room/library/everything else room into shape and decided to go through an old crate of folders. My packrat tendencies mean that 1990s Julie left me a crate full of old art sketches and word sketches and random school papers. (OK several plastic bins, but I'm going through the crate for now.)

Perhaps most pathetic were the sad attempts at "morgue files" I pieced together in the mid-90s.  In the days before the Internet contained almost everything you needed to know, some experts suggested you clip photos from magazines and newspapers to inspire you and help you with art projects and the like. So now I have about 15 folders with helpful labels like "Costumes" and "Kids," all containing between 1 and 6 clippings from newspapers and magazines.

But my files weren't a complete waste.  While sorting through my old papers, I stumbled across a folder simply labeled "Holograms."

Yes. "Holograms."

How great is that?!

Also, I had a Disneyland folder!  (Though the below picture is from...well...another Disneyland folder I had, because I'm lazy...)

Oh, 1990s Julie, how could I be irritated at you for hoarding ephemera?  I forgive you. Actually...I think I love you.

Photo Calendar from Shutterfly

So I took a week hiatus mostly because I could. Doesn't seem like anyone noticed, so no harm done!

So Shutterfly gave me a $20 "free" certificate (not including shipping) so I had to spend it! It was only a couple hours before expiration when I decided I should make a photo calendar. So I didn't necessarily do the BEST job...it was a cross between photos of me and friends and photos of things and places I love.

I did throw in a lot of birthdays and such...oddly, none for February. One nice thing was that I was able to make it from February - January. Anyway, it was fun and the quality is nice, though somehow I'd expected it to be a little bigger.

Which is better? Steak or pizza?

Why is it that food-related jingles are so catchy? Even when they aren't selling a particular product?

Seriously, I have sung both of these songs. More than once. Though I don't have all of Jimmy Fallon's pizza party song/dance memorized so it's usually more improvisation.

(Today was actually a very special day but I'll talk more about that next Monday. :) )

Daily Duffy

If you like the Duffy the Disney Bear photos I've been putting up sometimes, you might enjoy my new log, Daily Duffy. I put up a new Duffy picture every day...just a tiny dose of cuteness.

Be careful, tiny bears!

Tiny Duffy and TusCon 2011 part 2

They had a lot of fancy geodes at the hotel, for some reason.

I let Duffy pick a toy out of the treat and toy bowl.

I didn't let him take this one home. It was kind of creepy.

Later he took another one.

It wasn't that dark out but this picture looked spooky.

Weird Chinese beverage thing.

"LO-HAN-KUO BEVERAGE

DOSAGE: TO BE TAKEN AFTER HAVING DISSOLVED ONE PIECE OF THE CUBE WITH 100 CC.OF BOILING WATER. ONE PIECE FOR EACH TIME AND 2-3 TIMES FOR EACH DAY."

Oh, NOW I get it. Wait, no I don't.

Duffy likes Spiderman because they can both climb up walls.

Fancy Duffy.

Duffy with body parts.

Duffy with chili!

Oh no! Be careful, Duffy!

But he escaped. Goodbye from Tus-con!

Tiny Duffy and TusCon 2011

Here are some pictures from a recent trip to Tucson and my favorite convention, TusCon.

It is hard to stay safe when you are a tiny bear.

3 reasons eegee's is awesome:

Cherry Cider eegee's…one of the very best flavors of the month ever.

Ranch with fries. BY DEFAULT. (Speaking of which, it's a sub/sandwich place where you can get fries. WITH RANCH. BY DEFAULT.)

Captain eegee's! I think he actually predates Mr. Incredible.

Tiny Duffy waits for a panel at TusCon. (Note the Sprite behind him.)

Tiny Duffy has nachos in the con suite.

Trees!

Outside the film room.

Can you find a hidden Mickey?

Just resting.

Inside the film room. POPCORN!

And since I'm lazy and this is a super-easy way to do an entry, more next week!

More Duffy in Prescott

(OK, so this one published earlier than I wanted, but ah well...it's Monday somewhere!)

I don't have time to say much and Duffy is just so darned cute! (More photos and an explanation of Duffy in last Monday's entry.)

Duffy's paws are magnets, so he can pose in some odd places, like this painting on the stairs of our hotel.

Or he can pose in front of nature! Noooooo, that is not a painting. Not at all. (shifty eyes)

I believe the Hotel St. Michael is the oldest hotel in Prescott, though there may be a bed and breakfast that is older.

Some of the shots made it look kind of stormy, but it really wasn't. Just warm.

OK, this is one of those places where the full-sized (19"?) Duffy would be cuter.

This is a timeline area out in front of the courthouse, that has a timeline of mostly Arizona (but some nation/worldwide) events. I'm sure the Arizona flags are for Arizona's centennial (our state will be 100 in February!).

No, Duffy is not a Mason.

In the background is kind of antique-store row.

He even has a magnet on the back of his head, so he can levitate. Kind of.

Blimpie is so much better than Subway!
